This restaurant was close to our B&B. They didn't have a website or a phone number, but we dropped by hoping they'd have room.
We drove down an alley and knock on a glass door where we see only some tables that were set. It seemed to be run by two elderly ladies and a man. Nobody spoke English, but after some improvised sign language, unfortunate voice-to-text-translation of "we are drop-ins" into "we're droppings", we still got a table.
A few minutes after we sit down, the room is filled with other Italians. Shortly thereafter the staff come with a bottle of water and jug of wine. No questions asked. No menu. Just lots of smiling faces while they served us. We got a very good warm squash cake spread for bread as part of the anti-pasti, two pasta dishes and meat for the pasta, and pork ribs with potatoes for secondi. Then a dessert and some fruit. Proper home cooking. Pretty good. Quite a lot of food.
