๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ฟ Uzbekistan

๐ŸŒ Origin: Uzbekistan is a double landlocked country in Central Asia with a cuisine rich on mutton, rice, and bread. The Uzbek signature dish is pilaf/plov โ€” a rice dish with onions, grated carrots, raisins chickpeas, mutton and sometimes topped with a hard cooked egg. Due to a forced relocation of Koreans in 1937 Soviet Union, Uzbek cuisine has acquired some Korean influence, and dishes are sometimes complimented with kimchi.

๐Ÿ˜‹ Location: Named after the capital, @registan_oslo is the only restaurant in Oslo (perhaps in Norway) that serves Uzbeki food in Gamlebyen. Definitely worth a visit!

Everything is made in-house. They sometimes have โ€œMantyโ€, a traditional steamed dumplings for appetizers. We opted to try the traditional somosa/samsa โ€” flaky pastry dough filled with minced lamb and vegetables. For mains we had a huge plov. Unfortunately we were so full we couldnโ€™t have the homemade cakes, this time around.

We visited on 5th May 2023.

๐Ÿน Drinks: Non-alcohol drinks only, and teas are served in colorful pots.

๐Ÿ’ธ Value: 45 kr for somsas, 185 kr for plov, 199 kr for manty, and 70 kr for a cake slice.
