📍 Location: @sfbreadbowl is a little piece of San Francisco in Frogner and serves stew, not with bread, but inside the bread. Apparently this edible food container has been a tradition of the San Francisco cuisine since the gold rush days. Although bread bowls were invented 350 years before San Francisco was founded, it was the city of the clam chowder that popularized it.
😋 Food: We had the three classical types: 1) The clam chowder is a white creamy soup with potatoes, onions, mushrooms and clams. It’s heavy and with a nice seafood flavor. 2) The chili bowl is relatively mild for a chili. It has loads of pulled chicken, beans, and onions and peppers. 3) The mac and cheese was great. Four different types of melted cheese with truffle and loads of pepper.
And most importantly the sourdough bread bowls were crispy, fluffy and held their integrity filled with hot stew. (P.S. always say “yes” when they ask if you want garlic butter on top 👌) The bowls come in baby and normal sizes. I recommend getting the baby bowls so you can have several of them.
☕️ Coffee: Had American lemonade instead. It’s basically “lemonade made by an American”. Pretty fresh. Kinda sweet, but not overly so.
💸 Value: 360 for 3 baby bowls and a lemonade.
