πŸ‡¨πŸ‡΄ Colombia

🌏 Origin: Colombian cuisine has through its history acquired influences from Spanish, African and Arab cuisines. Indigenous Colombian cuisine is based on the use of local ingredients such as maize, potatoes, yuca, quinoa, beans, fruits, fish, and game.

A staple dish is arepas, a flatbread made of ground maize dough, stuffed or topped with cheese, meat, eggs, or vegetables. Arepas are one of the oldest and most widespread foods in Colombia, and are considered a national symbol.

πŸ˜‹ Location: @arepanorge.no occupies one the mezzanines in the Mathallen food court where they serve a selection of arepas and empanadas. We tried the arepas and had the classical chicharron and vegan. The chicharron arepa came with crispy and fatty pork belly with pickled red cabbage, parsley sauce and radishes. The vegan arepa came with salad, fried mushrooms and avocado cream. Both were served with a hearty portion of fried thinly sliced plantains and aji, a spicy salsa. In addition we also had some yuca frita, fried and super crispy cassava with aioli. It’s starchy, crispy, airy and slightly sweet.

We visited on Sunday the 21st of January

🍹 Drinks: They serve a pretty wide selection of juices made of South American fruits. We tried lulo (citrusy but quite mild).

πŸ’Έ Value: Arepas for 249-269 kr, Yuca Frita for 99 kr and juices are 79 kr.
